Rohleder is now HEUBERG

A note from our workshop

Our new name is HEUBERG.

If you know us as Rohleder, you may be wondering about the new name. You’re in the right place: HEUBERG is the same team, working from the same workshop in Wels, Austria. We’d like to explain why we’re changing our name.

Why change our name?

Rohleder has been our name from the start. Unfortunately, we couldn’t register it as a trademark: “Rohleder” is a German term used in the leather industry. Our trademark applications in the EU and the US were rejected for that reason.

This makes it difficult to take action against others using the same name or copying our shop. As we reach more customers abroad, we want you to be able to recognise us without any confusion.

HEUBERG gives us a protected name to carry on working under. It comes with a new logo and a new web address. Our work in the workshop stays the same.

Why a bowerbird?

The bird in our new logo is a bowerbird. It gathers objects and arranges them with remarkable care. We like the attention it pays to colours, shapes and materials.

We see a little of ourselves in that. Much of our work starts with choosing: which leather feels right? Which colours work together? How will a piece fit into its owner’s home and everyday life?

Leather goods remain our main focus. In time, we’d also like to make and select other beautiful, useful things for the home. The bowerbird felt like a good fit for that idea.

What does this mean for you?

Our shop is now called HEUBERG, and you’ll find us at heuberg-atelier.com. Links to our old address redirect you here.

Your existing orders, warranties and customer accounts remain valid. There’s nothing you need to do. If your product still carries the Rohleder name, we’re here for you just as before.
